How to Offer Bundle Discounts on Squarespace With a Plugin

Bundle discounts are one of the simplest, most effective tools for increasing average order value on any ecommerce store. On Squarespace, where there's no native bundling feature, a plugin is the only way to make it happen. Here's how to do it.

Why Discounted Bundles Work

A bundle discount changes the customer's mental calculation. Instead of asking "is this product worth the price?" they ask "is this combination worth the combined price minus the saving?" That's a fundamentally easier question to say yes to — especially when the saving is visible and meaningful.

Bundle discounts also reduce the friction of buying multiple products. The customer doesn't need to add three products separately and calculate whether they're getting a deal — the bundle does that work for them.

Setting Up Bundle Discounts on Squarespace With UpsellGrow

UpsellGrow handles bundle discounts on Squarespace 7.1. Here's the process:

Step 1: Build the Bundle

In the Bundles section of UpsellGrow, click "New Bundle." Add your products (up to 5), selecting the fixed variant for each. UpsellGrow automatically calculates the original price by summing the variant prices. This becomes the "before discount" price.

Step 2: Set the Sale Price

Enter the bundle sale price — the discounted price you want to charge. UpsellGrow displays both the original price (struck through) and the sale price, with the savings amount calculated and shown automatically. The discount is completely transparent to the customer.

Step 3: Create the Offer

Create a new offer in UpsellGrow, select "Bundle" as the type, choose your bundle, pick the page location and position, and publish. The bundle widget appears with the full pricing information — original, discounted, and savings — making the value proposition clear without any additional copy needed.

How Much Should You Discount?

The sweet spot for bundle discounts is 15 to 25 percent off the combined individual prices:

  • Under 10%: Doesn't feel significant enough to change behavior
  • 10-15%: Acceptable — works when the product combination is very natural
  • 15-25%: The conversion sweet spot — meaningful enough to motivate without heavily eroding margin
  • Over 30%: Can work for clearance or seasonal promotions, but sustainable only if margins allow

Start at 15 percent. Measure conversion. If it's below 10 percent after two weeks with good impressions, try 20 percent.

Where to Show Bundle Discounts

The most effective positions for bundle discount offers:

Product page — below Add to Cart: After the customer has decided they want the main product, the bundle extends that decision naturally.

Slide-out cart: The customer has committed to buying. A bundle discount in the drawer is a last chance to add more value to an order that's already in motion.

Cart page — right of cart: Next to the order summary, the customer is evaluating their total spend. A bundle discount makes the math easy: buy more, spend proportionally less.

Managing Multiple Bundle Discounts

UpsellGrow's Bundles manager gives you an overview of all your bundles — pricing, which offers they're attached to, and status (active/draft). If you change the sale price of a bundle, it updates immediately across all attached offers.
