How to Bundle Products Together on Squarespace to Increase AOV
Average order value is one of the clearest indicators of how well your store is performing. And bundling products together is one of the fastest ways to increase it — not by convincing customers to buy more than they need, but by making it easy and rewarding for them to buy more of what they already want.
Squarespace doesn't support product bundling natively. But with the right plugin, you can create and show bundle offers across your entire store in under an hour.
What Bundling Does for AOV
The math is straightforward. If a customer buys one product at $45, your AOV from that transaction is $45. If they buy a bundle of three products at $110 (down from $135), your AOV from that transaction is $110. You've more than doubled the revenue from that single visit — without any additional marketing spend.
The discount makes the bundle attractive to the customer. The higher transaction value makes it attractive to you. It's one of the few retail strategies where both sides genuinely win.
Why Squarespace Doesn't Bundle Natively
Squarespace is built around individual products. Each product has its own page, its own inventory, its own pricing. There's no mechanism for grouping products together into a package deal, applying conditional discounts, or creating offers that link multiple products in a single add-to-cart action.
This is a significant limitation for stores that want to increase AOV. And it's why a dedicated plugin is necessary.
How UpsellGrow Handles Bundling
UpsellGrow creates bundles as hidden Squarespace products via the Products API. This means:
- The bundle is a real Squarespace product — it processes through your existing checkout, payments, and fulfillment exactly like any other order
- It's hidden from your store catalog, navigation, and search — customers only see it inside UpsellGrow offer widgets
- No manual product creation required — you build bundles in the UpsellGrow dashboard and the plugin handles the Squarespace side automatically
Creating a Bundle
In the Bundles section of UpsellGrow, click "New Bundle." Add up to five products, selecting the fixed variant for each. UpsellGrow calculates the original price automatically from the sum of the selected variant prices. You set the sale price. Save and activate.
Displaying the Bundle
Create a new offer, select "Bundle" as the type, choose your bundle, and pick the page and position. UpsellGrow supports 19 positions across 5 pages. A bundle can appear on the product page of any included product, in the slide-out cart, on the cart page, and on the order confirmation page.
Which Products Should You Bundle?
Start with your most frequently purchased products. If your analytics show that certain products are consistently in the same orders, those are natural bundle candidates.
Look for natural sets. Products that are part of a "complete look" or a "full kit" bundle intuitively — kitchen tools, skincare routines, outfit components.
Use FBT data if you have it. UpsellGrow's Frequently Bought Together feature analyses your order history and shows you exactly which products customers buy together most often. These are your highest-probability bundle candidates.
Pricing Your Bundle
The sweet spot for bundle discounts is 15 to 25 percent off the combined individual prices. Less than 10 percent and the saving doesn't feel meaningful enough to change behavior. More than 30 percent and you're eroding margin significantly.
UpsellGrow shows the original price (struck through), the bundle price, and the saving amount prominently on the widget. Customers see exactly what they're getting and exactly what they're saving.
Testing and Optimising
UpsellGrow tracks impressions, conversions, and revenue per bundle offer. After two weeks, check:
- Is the conversion rate above 10 percent? If not, the product combination or the discount may need adjusting.
- Is the position right? Try moving it to a different spot on the page if conversions are low despite high impressions.
- Are customers seeing it? Low impressions usually mean the offer isn't being triggered — check that the trigger product is correct.
